STI has provided data analysis and policy development support to the TMA since 1993. Below is a sampling of recent projects.
Recently we performed analysis of six large MTFs with Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs. We developed a process that identified best practices as well as systemic and endemic coding problems within the MHS. Using our team’s technical process, we collected coding and auditing performance data to identify trends and facilitate further analysis.
We conducted a study to improve coding performance at military facilities worldwide, for all three branches of service. Our auditors and IT specialists developed a methodology that enabled us to statistically verify best practices from the 5,000+ records audited. This methodology can be applied to any statistically valid coding study.
Our credentialed specialists also gathered information and statistics showing coding trends and workflow processes. We then analyzed this information, allowing us to recommend process improvements to achieve an immediate increase in correct coding, an improved work flow and increased charge capture.
The DCoE has a clear mandate to evaluate best practices and curriculum for Psychological Health (PH) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). Program evaluation and the evaluation of best practices primarily requires subject matter expertise and is added greatly by formalized approaches. By leveraging both these elements, the DCoE will be able to determine how well a project, best practice, or program is performing against established goals and objectives, as well as to understand the effectiveness of its delivery processes and the impact on its target population.STI is supporting this task with Physicians, Clinical Psychologists, and Senior RNs to support overall aim of the program evaluation and evaluation of best practices to understand intended and unintended effects of the project, best practice, or program.
